1. Place de la Comédie- The Heart of Montpellier

Place de la Comédie

Place de la Comédie is the manic heart of Montpellier, where we started our adventure. It is a very busy square, but not a place where one simply meets someone, it is an active centre for local culture, with shops and cafes.

We walked about the square with the kids in awe of the street performers and had a delicious gelato from a nearby café. Sitting on the terrace and taking in life just as the world goes by is something magical.

Less than a 5min walk from the square, we also came by the Arc de Triomphe Montpellier, a nice monument which dates back to the 18th century. A great photo spot with some insight into the city’s long history.

Facilities: Spacious area for walking

I stood under the arch, filled with nostalgia, a feeling of wonder as I watched the centuries run all the way down, and wondered about all the people who had passed through this arch. They rushed up the steps for a better view.

My Experiences: The Magic of Montpellier

During our trip to Montpellier, I had looked forward to each location we visited. Everything from the culture, beautiful architecture and friendly people, we fell in love with the city.

The energy here was contagious around Place de la Comédie. Locals and fellow travelers were there for interaction and sharing stories and laughing.

The Magic of Montpellier

It was my favorite experience not only because I met so many people, but also because the kids made new friends while playing at the square.

On the Jardin des Plantes I was just in the presence of the beauty of nature. Every morning in my garden, I had the sight of my children running through the garden playing and laughing.

This was a reminder about the simple pleasures we have in life and how much family time is needed.
