Exploring My top 5 Picks

1. Place de la Bourse

What is the most beautiful part of Bordeaux? For me, it has to be the Place de la Bourse, which is one of the most famous places to visit in Bordeaux. The word which came to my head when I first laid my eyes on this place was simply WOW!

A remarkable sight, the square has stunning 18th century structures surrounding it. During sunset the reflection board, known as the Miroir d’eau, creates an incredible effect that makes pictures truly stand out.

My Experience

Feeling the warmth of an evening breeze as the sun sets is a moment that I will cherish forever. The joyful screams of children playing in the water combined with the high spirits of the tourists with the locals who frequented the area created an environment with an unparalleled energy. Such are the corners of Bordeaux that encapsulate its essence and culture.

2. Bordeaux Cathedral (Saint-André Cathedral)

Which is the most renowned landmark in Bordeaux? Owing to the List of Historic Monuments, the Bordeaux Cathedral can be regarded as one of the prominent landmarks.

Do you know that it is among the biggest Gothic-style cathedrals present in France? Ever since I walked by its beautifully decorated façade and entered its breathtaking interiors, I found myself spellbound.

My Experience

I recall the moment that I walked into the cathedral and was struck by the age old walls and beautifully crafted ceilings, as well, the moment I entered the cathedral cathedrals a mass was going on and the captivating choir created a serene atmosphere in an already stunning space that merged with the accented rays of the sun.

It was a moment of pure relaxation for me. Not to mention, I also came across the cathedral which was constructed in the twelfth century, making me even more fall in love with this iconic structure.

3. Cite Du Vin

Cite Du Vin

To start, if you’ve been pondering on your mind as to what Bordeaux is famous for, we know for a fact that wine is the answer. In order to witness and explore the world of wine, the Cité du Vin is a site of great interest. Certainly, this museum is special because it integrates the true essence of wine and its culture through an interactive experience.

My Experience

I dedicated some of my hours here as I strolled within the showcases that were interesting and informative. The best part was the end sensory tasting session, where I sipped on a glass of delicious Bordeaux cut while looking at stunning sights of the city. It is an experience that’ll be etched on my brain forever.

4. Les Quais de Bordeaux

In addition, the other city treatment that we saw was Les Quais de Bordeaux, where the Garonne River is located. Not only does it give one a chance to view the river and the city but it also allows walking and going on bike rides.

My Experience

I did manage to find a nice quiet place alongside the river, where I sat and saw people. The vibe here was infectious and filled with joy, where children are eating food in picnics, and couples are wandering about. With the falling of day, the urban lights emerged from nowhere to bring out a twinkling effect that left my heart with warmth.

5. La Victoire

La Victoire can be termed an outcrop of the youthful character that aids in the growth and development of Bordeaux city. It is also famous for the markets and various shops that are located around the area, thus making it a great place to experience the local culture firsthand.

My Experience

La Victoire

I came across a market where people were selling fresh vegetables, cheese, and painted pottery that saw quite the footfall. Some of them were also willing to share their experiences and some of their unique stories on the side.

I could not resist myself from considering this an experience that seemed to reside in the border of the local realities, so I bought a few of their interesting dishes to relax with later!

So I had an enriching experience and a separate encounter with tribes that aided their local economies.
